Sharks mount historic comeback to win FiReLEAGUE Latin Power

Jhonatan "⁠jnt⁠" Silva's men have secured a spot in the BLAST 2022 Spring Showdown.

Following a close grand final, Sharks have defeated Imperial 2-1 to win FiReLEAGUE Latin Power Spring, earning a spot in the upcoming BLAST Spring Showdown. Along with the series victory, Sharks mounted a historic comeback, going from 14-2 down to secure overtime and an eventual win on Dust2.

Both coming from Group B, the new Brazilian lineups both swept their semifinal matches to meet in the final. Having already lost to Sharks in the group stage, Imperial were looking to take revenge and secure a spot at the showdown event.

The first map, Inferno, started out quite rough for the Sharks side, as they were unable to string any rounds together in the first half. Their efforts in the second half didn't yield much better results, with the veterans in Imperial pulling out a clean 16-10 win.

Gabriel "⁠FalleN⁠" Toledo and company kept up their momentum going into Dust2, and racked up a ridiculous 14-2 lead. Led by an incredible performance by Romeu "⁠zevy⁠" Rocco, Sharks managed to comeback from not just a 2-14 deficit but a subsequent 4-15 scoreline to secure overtime. Of the 409 maps on Dust2 where the CT-starting team had a 15-4 lead, only about 5 of those maps ever went to overtime, making the Sharks comeback one for the history books.

With the momentum having swung in the other direction, Imperial were put onto the back foot and looked to reclaim control of the series. Despite a heroic performance from Fernando "⁠fer⁠" Alvarenga, Imperial were unable to close out map three, and fell 14-16 on Mirage.
